Rodrigo De la Prida is a musician, guitarist, composer and music producer. Since 1998 he has worked as a guitar and music production teacher, and since 2000 he has concentrated, together with the prominent Chilean band Horeja, in creating his own musical language.

In this book he turns all his experience to cover in depth the possibilities of the Augmented Scale, through 32 Examples from: Gustav Holst, Sergei Prokofiev, Béla Bartók, Oliver Nelson, John Coltrane, John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Allan Holdsworth, Michael Brecker, and Jonathan Kreisberg.

A careful selection of fragments of compositions and phrases of solos, through transcriptions, harmonizations, and exercises aimed at developing the ability to improvise, and that tend to the assimilation and consolidation of the harmonic and melodic resources of the Augmented Scale.

Focused mainly on the guitar, but also extrapolated to any melodic/harmonic instrument, this book is deep and challenging. It has a creative outlook, and a clever strategy, carefully designed to make the most of the categorical flow of ideas and content displayed in these more than 90 pages.
